MY ANXIOUS ALTER EGO | EPISODE 1 | READY FOR THE PARTY?

MY ANXIOUS ALTER EGO | EPISODE 1 | READY FOR THE PARTY?

THANKS FOR WATCHING THE FIRST EPISODE OF MY ANXIOUS ALTER EGO!!! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT! EPISODE SUMMARY Talia's ready to go to the party - or so she thought, until Ansia showed up! Ansia second guesses Talia's outfit choices. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SERIES SUMMARY In this series, we see Talia talk to her trusty twin, Ansia (anxiety), who voices Talia's anxious thoughts out loud. You can trust that Ansia will show up at the worst times, and it's up to Talia to confront her! Meant to be a lighthearted comedy while also dealing with a serious topic - what it's like to struggle with anxiety. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TODAY'S 3 TIPS BY TALIA ON HOW TO COPE WITH ANXIETY 1. Create a mantra. What are 3-4 things that generate a calm emotion for you? Generate an acronym/something easy to remember. I stole my acronym (CALM) from one of my favorite shows, Jane the Virgin. An example: Four things that CALM me are: (1) Cannoli, my puppy (2) Aqua (3) Library (4) Music. You don't have to use this acronym of course, use whatever is easiest for you to remember in moments of anxiety. 2. Grounding techniques. Sometimes anxiety can take over when our brains fail to stay in the present moment. A grounding technique can be something like: My name is Talia. I am wearing a red shirt and blue jeans. I am wearing Adidas sneakers. I am sitting in my living room. It is October 20th. Often, severe anxiety or panic attacks happen when we mentally "relive" traumatic moments in certain trigger situations. Grounding techniques can help us stay - well... grounded! Cognitive behavioral therapy (it sounds scary but it's not, I promise!) - it helps identify certain patterns of thinking that lead to an anxious spiral so that we can learn to reframe those thought patterns! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE RESOURCES HEALTHLINE RESOURCE Article: "How to Cope with Anxiety - 11 Simple Ways" https://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/how-to-cope-with-anxiety#long-term-strategies MINDFULNESS APPS Headspace: https://headspace.com/ ***I use the free version of Headspace to practice being present and to practice deep breathing techniques, since both techniques can also be used to reduce anxiety.*** Calm: https://www.calm.com ***I've also used Calm and it's another really nice app for practicing mindfulness*** ONLINE THERAPY Talkspace: https://try.talkspace.com/ PHYSICAL HEALTH *helps with mental health* Fitbit: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/home ***I use my Fitbit to track my workouts, which are personally absolutely essential to managing the anxiety I struggle with. MY ANXIOUS ALTER EGO | EPISODE 2 | DID I FORGET SOMETHING?

MY ANXIOUS ALTER EGO | EPISODE 2 | DID I FORGET SOMETHING?

THANKS FOR WATCHING THE SECOND EPISODE OF MY ANXIOUS ALTER EGO!!! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT! EPISODE SUMMARY Talia's ready to go to work - or so she thought, until Ansia showed up! Ansia thinks they've forgotten something important in the apartment. Create a checklist for yourself - it helps decrease the amount of time you spend worrying if you forgot something! This can apply to everything from packing for a trip to managing your (home)work. :) 2. Aromatherapy - get some candles, air fresheners, or essential oils that have your favourite scents in them. Scents like lavender, chamomile, and sandalwood can be very soothing and do wonders to ease anxiety 3. Affirmations - Practicing self-affirmations is a great way help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. My advice is to act as your own motivational speaker when you are doing this: talk to yourself like you would talk to a loved one/friend. Using statements of encouragement instead of criticism can help ease anxiety and increase self-love and confidence. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE RESOURCES HEALTHLINE RESOURCE Article: "How to Cope with Anxiety - 11 Simple Ways" https://www.healthline.com/health/men... Meant to be a lighthearted comedy while also dealing with a serious topic - what it's like to struggle with anxiety. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TODAY'S 3 TIPS BY TALIA ON HOW TO COPE WITH ANXIETY Try it out and see if it works for you! 1. Create an alter ego - I know this is the name of my show, but it does really work for me! Naming the anxiety and talking to that part of myself helps work through it. 2. Write it down - writing all my thoughts down really helps me slow down my thoughts when I'm spiraling/having an anxiety attack. 3. Ask your loved ones for a hug - hugs have been scientifically proven to released oxytocin, which is a hormone that reduces stress and makes us feel good! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE RESOURCES HEALTHLINE RESOURCE Article: "How to Cope with Anxiety - 11 Simple Ways" https://www.healthline.com/health/men...
